The Largest Fancy Vivid Blue Diamond to Hit Auction

A unique 15.1 carat fancy vivid blue diamond will be offered at a single-lot auction at Sotheby’s Hong Kong, with an estimate in excess of $48 million (HK$380 million), the highest estimate for a blue diamond. The ‘De Beers Cullinan Blue’ was discovered in April 2021 at the Cullinan Mine in South Africa, one of the very few sources in the world for extremely rare blue diamonds.

De Beers has worked with its partner Diacore, a leading diamond manufacturer and cutter, to cut and polish the rough diamond over the past year.
