CBS News: Rare Diamond Sells at Auction for $12.3 Million in Cryptocurrency

A mystery buyer has purchased a massive, exceedingly rare 101.38-carat diamond in a Sotheby’s auction for $12.3 million — and they paid using cryptocurrency. The rare diamond, from Diacore, is a stunning pear-shaped gemstone, the second largest of its kind ever sold.

Nir Livnat, executive chairman of Diacore, said: “It’s very exciting making history. ‘The Key 10138’ is the most expensive diamond ever sold in exchange for cryptocurrency”.
